Q AMARU VERDICT “NOT GUILTY.” OAMARU, Last Night. In the Supreme Court to-day Ernest Heselwood was charged with man-, slaughter in connection with the death of James Robert Young. He was also charged under the Motor Vehicles’ Act with driving negligently and carelessly so as to cause the death of Young, and further with causing the death of Young through being intoxicated while driving a car. -■ The evidence showed that deceased, with party of four.others, went to the Gcorgtown Hotel where they had several drinks. They also had at least one drink on the road home. When near town the car swerved and Ybung’s head struck a telegraph pole causing the injuries from which he died. The jury after a short retirement returned a verdict of “not guilty.” JOHNSONVILLE SALE. Messrs Abraham and Williams Ltd. and Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd., report on their Joluisonvihe sale held yesterday: -A small yarding of both sheep and" cattle came forward. Bidding on the sheep -vyas fairly restricted, although anytUtug good sold well. The demand for beef was keen at prices on a par with last week. We quote: Wethers 38/9, £2, £2 1/3, to £2 3/-; ewes, 32/-, 34/-, 35/- to 37/6; lambs, woolly, 36/-, 38/-, 38/6, 39/to £2 0/6; do. shorn, 29/3; Bullocks, £l2 17/6, £l3, £l3 5/-, £l3 16/-, £l4. 10/-, £l4 15/-, £l6- to £l6 2/6.-'Cows, plain £3 to £4; vealers £2 1/-.
