Owing to the poor support accorded it, tftxe Wellington Chamber of Commerce lias abandoned its idea of sending a party of Wellington business men on tour in the North island. In expressing his disappointment, the president, Mr 11. P. Bennett, said: “We have received word from various organisations in the province that they have been preparing for us, and only this morning word was received from Levin that arrangements were being made to take the party over the route of the proposed Levln-Mar-ton railway deviation. It is indeed disappointing to think that a body like the Wellington Chamber of Commerce with 500 members cannoit ol> tain sufficient support to carry ouit the proposal.
