AND A DEAL IN RCJBB.uK. Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., was occupied at the Magistrate's Court on Monday at Wanganui, hearing a claim made by John K. Lowe (Mr Brodie) against Grace Marion Fleetwood (Mr Watt) for the recovery of the sum of *.150 loaned to defendant for the purpose of obtaining a share in the Rubber Products Company of America. Plaintiff, 4n his evidence, stated that whilst boarding with defendant, he had advanced her small sums of money, which were eveatua'.lv paid back. At the tinvj, plaintiff was paying . attention to Mrs Fleetwood's daughter—attentions which became subsequently estranged. Defendant had proposed, in consequence of his interest in her daughter, to give plaintiff a half share of her financial interest in the Rubber Products Company. Plaintiff approached defendant by correspondence on numerous occasions after the estrangement for the liquidation of her liability to him, but from time to time was asked to await payment of a bonus accruing to her interest in the company. Plaintiff: acknowledged he liad some time ago figured as the defendant in a breach promise claim brought by defendant's daughter, in which the judgment of the Court went against him. The evidence given by Mrs Fleetwood was a denial in every particular of the statements made in complainant's c?aim. She had p;iid £6O 2/S into Court, which sum she considered completed any liability she may have had with Lowe. It wou'd represent his interest in her share in the Rubber Products Company. His Worship gave iudgment for the full amount claimed, with witnesses' expenses £1 IS/-, solicitor's fee £S 10/-, and Court costs i:3.
