DANISH BUTTER SOLD AS “MAYPOLE”
According: to the Copenhagen cor. respopndenfc of the “European Commercial, V the recent rise v in Danish butter has created a record butter price of 593 kroner per 100-kilogram unit quoted, ccording to a report from London to the Department of Commerce from special representative H. B. Smith. It is stated that the increase in price is due to the large number of order s recently received from the English market, where fine butter is scare, and at a premium. Furthermore, Germany has made some substantial purchases and Belgian buyers have also been in the market.
The present price level is regarded as peak for the time being, as it is hardly expected, that present prices can be maintained.
The correspondent goes on to call attention to the fact that the British Maypole Dairy Conmany, which has been one of the best customers for Danish butter, has hitherto sold this Danish butter in England under its own name (Maypole.) This practice has caused a good deal of dissatisfaction among Danish produce,rs, and the British company has now been induced to change its policy. In the future. Danish butter marketed by the Maypole Company will be styled “Danish Maypole.” It is also claimed that under the agreement, 'Maypole will inaugurate a big advertising campaign for Danish Maypole under the slogan “The World’s Best Butter.”
