New South Wales, in the first innings made 614 (Kippax not qut 212, Rock 235, Salmon 31). Hartkopf took 5 wickets for 121 runs. Victoria had lost 2 for 69 (Woodful not out 23) when stumps were drawn. PLUN3LET SHIELD. AUCKLAND DISMISSED FOR 346. AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Plunket Shield cricket match, Wellington v. Auckland, was continued to-day, on a bowler’s wicket. Rain prevented play all the afternoon, Auckland resuming at 6 for 221, was dismissed for 346, Garrard making 44 and Sneddon 32. , Bowling for Wellington, Badcoclc took four wickets for 110, McGirr 2 for 75 and Hiddleston 4 for 36.

Wellington in the second innings, has made 26 for the loss of four wickets; Hiddleston, 13 not out, being the only one to reach a double figure. At one stage Wellington had • 4 wickets down for 9. Scores:

CHRISTCHURCH,, Last Night. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Cricket Association, Badcoek and Sharpe were given permission to play for Wellington in Plunket Shield matches.

In connection with the Hawke Cup competition, the secretary reported that Southland was next on the list for a challenge match the holders (Nelson), but as Southland was unable to travel, Waiapu was offered the match, Waiapu, however, could not travel until Easter and the matches arranged now were Nelson v. West Coast, on February 4, and Nelson v. Wanganui, February 13, and 14th. These arrangements were confirmed.

Tlie Australian Board of Control wrote stating that it had resolved that the New Zealand Council’s request that an Australian eleven should play a series of games in New' Zealand on their way to England could not be acceded to. Regarding the suggested visit of a New Zealand team to Australia during the.season 1925-26, the Australian Board would be pleased to reecive such a team and it was prepared to offer the Council 75 per cent, of the net takings of all matches towards defraying the expenses of the tour. The Board offered no objection to the visit of a Victorian team to New Zealand.

Mr Reese stated that in his opinion the visit of an Australian eleven was definitely off, but he was confident that there was still a possibility that they would come to the Dominion on the journey home. The players themselves were anxious that they should come and the Board of Control might finally be prevailed upon to allow them to do so.
