HOLDING OUT FOR SIX HOUR DAY
(Received Monday, 10 p.m.) LONDON, January 26
Mr Cook, the miners' secretary, while speaking at Doncaster, indicated that steps were being taken to revive the Triple Alliance. He said: “We want to avoid a lone strike, so our committee is going to meet the railwaymen, . dockers and other trade unionists. We will test our solidarity before notice of a strike is given. It is better to raise hell now than to raise a double hell when the men are on the road. There; will be no compromise on the seven-hour day and we are pressing forward for a six hours’ day. The Government will start a revolution if it attempts to touch the miners’ bourn.’*
