“CHU CHIN CHOW” ON FRIDAY.
The story of “Chu Chin Chow” is founded on the age-old theme of Ail Baba and the Forty Thieves which has come down tlirough the mists of antiquity in Arabian legend and was presented to a wondering western world by Burton in his translation of “The Thousand and One Arabian Nights.” In the. tale of Ah Baba the authors of “Chu Chin Chow,” Oscar Asdhe and Frederic Norton, saw the germ of a wonderful stage spectacle, and evolved from it a musical play which had phenomenal success. It ran for over five years at His Majesty’s Theatre, London, and for more than three years in New York. The scenarist and director of the cinematograph production of “Chu Chin Chow” has developed the germ story still further, and with legitimate screen license has made the picture not only a magnificent Eastern spectacle, but a pc *- mantic drama which grips and thrills, and is yet relieved by touches of delightful humour. The box plan is at Mrs Rawfinson’s.
