Hannah, chairman No.. 9 District Council qi the Main Highway Board:— “Recently a deputation from the Manawatu County Council, ihterviewed the chairixiciii of. the Main Highways Board re replacing the spans of the above mentioned hrid&e, that, were washed away,, with a temporary structure, of minimum .width. The temporary structure is estimated to cost £I2OO and I have been instructed to. ask your Council in conjunction with the Foxton Borough Council and the Manawatu County Council, what proportion of the cost oi a temporary structure each local body would be willing tq find;, also whether you and the two other local bodies concerned are willing to shoulder the risk of the temporary structure being washed away before the erection of. a new bridge can be completed. It will, probably be two or three years before a new bridge can be erected. Please reply at your earliest convenience..” The matter wifi be dealt with at the Borough Council meeting this evening.
