PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL.
TEA.!AND PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY
The above annual event took place oui Hie 2Snd inst. in the Parish Hall, ■Shannon, and was presided • qver ny the Rev. A. F. Stewart. Tim attendance was large, only those away on holidays being ahseut. Tea was put on at 6 p.m., and tiie children did lull justice, there being a plentiful supply of sandwiches and cakes, which were supplied by the mothers and iriends. The tea was in the very capaDie hands of Mesdames Ewart, McCulloch and ,C. T. Easton, of Buckley, the teachers looking after the tables, ana keeping the children busy. After ten the teachers arranged games and the hall was soon filled with happy, laughing, rqmping children. The mothers and friends joined in the fun by 7.30 p.m,, vvhen it was time, for the distribution of prizes, t.q the successful scholars. The books, were of a. high quality, and a sum of over £8 10s had been contributed by list for tills, purpose. Rev. Mr Stewart, in a short speech,, congratulated the teachers and parents lor the interest and growth of the Sunday Sc bool which, was steadily getting larger and larger, there being seventy, prizes to give quf He also spoke to the children about the benefits of Sunday School work, after which tiie prizes were handed out as follow.: — -

McGregor; recitation, Eric Hemmingsen; pianoforte duet, Brian Clayton and Raymond Watkins; vocal duet, 'lvan Hemmingsen and Lloyd Cfarkeek; recitation, Ivan Hemniing•ecn; vocal duet (the little tots), Joyce Buckman and May Gardner; vocal duet, Joyce Buckman and May Gardner. Supper was. handed round at 8.30 p.m. and a successful evening was brought to a happy ending at 9.30 p.m.
