Ryder asked iisuch .a man would be capable Of taking charge of construction, ‘ The Engineer stated that the man they wanted should he primarily a man who was capable of doing survey work and was also a good draftsman. it would he desirable that (he should do a certain amount of overseeing also. ~ ’ The following resolution proposed by Cr. Broadbelt and seconded by Cr. Harkness was carried: “That in' the event of the Main Highways loan be--1 ing carried, application be called for an Assistant Engineer to assist with Main Highways work. The applicant to have survey and draughtsman’s knowledge; salary to he £3*>u 1 per annum.”
