From Park and Adams, solicitors, forwarding draft; oi electric lighting agreement with.the Horowhenua jElectric Power Bo.a.rd tor perusal.—Held over. From Mr. A, E. Burling, on behalf of Mr F. Bryant, in reference to removing' wee.ds and. •obstructions irom bed of drain near their stables and finishing at Gardner's.boundary above their orchard, agreeing to remove the weeds and obstructions from half the distance mentioned, the Borough Council to do tJhe. remaining portion, provided that Mr Gardner and other Borough ratepayers do likewise.—This offer was accepted. An application to make additions to house occupied by Mr G. Watkins, situated in Vance Street, was granted. A permit \vas granted Mrs Better to subdivide her property at the corner of Plimmer Terrace and Stafford St. I. D. Jones wrote asking if it is contrary to the Borough by-laws governing the division of land in Shannon to have a B2ft. frontage and did. the Council sanction the placing of a dividing fence qf 122 ft (frontage.—'The writer tQ be informed that 48ft is the smallest frontage permitted by the by-flaws and that the Council had never given authority, for the erection of a dividing fence allowing 221 t frontage.

Cr. Curran dre.\jr the Council's attention to the damage toeing done to the fences, m. Mr wood's property near Speucef's creek, by residents ot tiie town • who used Mr Wood's grounds for picnicing, etc. He. said Mr Wood did not wish to stop people using the grounds, but he complained that t/tie fences were being damaged and. the gates left open.. He recommended that proper stiles be erected and that the public he notified to close the gates.—lt was . decided to erect proper stiles. ■■ ■ ' , It was decided to add, 10 per cent. , to all outstanding rates after February Ist, 1925. ."'■-. Accounts were passed for payment.
