DAIRY PRODUCE GRADED.

OCTOBER FIGURES. The Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture reports that the salted butter graded during October amounted to 8337 tons, and the unsalted 513 tons, a total of 8850 tons* compared with 6407 tons salted and 425 tons unsalted, a total of 6832 tons for October of last year; an increase of 29.5 per.cent. For the threejnonths ended October last, the respective quantities were 14,962 tons and 663 tons, a total of 15,625 tons, compared with 12,008 tons, an increase of 25.0 per cent. The cheese graded last October comprised: White 4650 tons, coloured 2648 tons, a total of 7298 tons, compared with 4497 tons white, and 3019 tons coloured, a, total of ,7516 tons, a decrease of 2,9 per cent. The quantities for the three months ende<s October last were: White, 6432 tons," coloured 3802 tons, a total of 10,234 tons, compared with 6516 tons white and 6262 tons coloured, a total of 10,778 tons, a decrease of 5.0 per cent.

Converting, these figures into but-ter-fat equivalent, there 4 S an increase of .16.4 per cent in butter-fat production for the thre e months, as compared with the corresponding period of 1923-24. Stocks held in the various grading ports at October 31, 1924, were: Butter 5827 tons, cheese 4757 tons.
