' The president (Mr Thwaites) presiding. \ Correspondence was received from the Associated Chambers of Commerce asking if the Chamiber would submit name of delegate' w.ho W ill | attend the annual conference to be held at Wanganui next month, also desiring to know the membership of the Chamber. The~secretary was instructed, tQ forward the necessary particulars. TEACHERS CHANGED TOO OFTEN. A letter was received from: the Eketahuna Chamber of Commerce stating that teachers at the Eketahjuina school .were heing Irepeatedly changed, after varying and in some cases, very short terms: of service that very frequently relieving teachers only are sent and that changes are made at any time, during the year, and stating they are writing to the Education Board to request, that, as a general rule, teachers are only changed at the end Of a year, and that they would be very glad to have the (Chamber's support.—-The secretary vya«, instructed to write for further particulars. FIRE BRIGADE. The President (Mr Thwaites) brought fqrvvard the question of forming a fire farigade in Shannon now that an efficient water supply will be available. He stated sluch /a body was essential and must come and he did not think there' would be any difficulty in getting young men to carry ,out the work, the experience of other places: being that the men become very keen in the work. Everything depends on getting a good man at the head. Advice could he obtained as to the preliminary work of forming and carrying on a, brigade fromi'the Inspector, who would probably visit Shannon a n Q " address tho.se /interested.
