THE GREAT ROYAL SHOW.
At Palmerston North on November 4,5, and 6 the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand will inaugurate the Royal Show in the Dominion,; the first regal fixture, which Will be under vice-regal patronage, being held in conjunction with the annual Metropolitan Show of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, whose grounds are undoubtedly the best in New Zealand for such a purpose, as they have housing accommodation for the very large entries in the live stock section, which numbers over 2000 entries, and the .whole of these will be accommodated under cover. .This 'will be the largest entry of stock ever seen together at any show in the Dominion. In the horse, cattle and sheep sections the champions in previous show rings in both the,, North and South Islands will meet in competition. This should prove a. most interesting feature and should prove very valuable to stock breeders generally, for while the "North excels in some bneeds the South can more than hold its own in others. In order to have the very best possible adjudication on the stock the most expert judges procurable have been obtained, some of t>hem having had considerable experience at the Sydney Royal and other Australian shows, and some keen competition may be looked for.
It is daily becoming more evident that the number of visitors will be extremely large, from all parts of the Dominion, while there will also be a good many present from overseas. Arrangements are well forward for the show, and the officials are working at high pressure so that everything will be in order in good time. All that is nqw wanted to ensure the success of the Royal is fine weather.
