SMALL ENTRIES AND RAIN. CONSPIRE TO RAISE PRICES AT ADDINGTON.. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Addingto'a market to-day was very firm, with an advance in all the principal sections of stock. Particularly was this ihe case in the fat 1 cattle section. The advance, however, was largely due in this case to smaller entries. Store sheep firmed up as a consequence of the good rafcis of the week-end. ewes and lambs being several shillings per head better. Spring lambs. — One hundred and two were penned, and met with a good sale, from 28/ co 36/6. Stove sheep.—A small entry a particularly spirited sale, there being '. an all-round improvement in values. A pen of well-woolled first, cross ewes with 150 per cent of lambs sold at 32/2, all counted. Values all round were up as a result of the break in the dry weather by several shillings per head. Exceptionally good hali>bred ewes with lambs made 32/2 (all counted); good sound-mouthed crossbred ewes, with lambs 27/; good aged ewes, with forward lambs 2-6/3; fair aged ewes and lambs 20/ to 22/; low-conditioned in'ferior and aged ewes and lambs 16/6 f to 19/6; good three-quarterbred ewe hoggets 36/ to 37/; crossbred mixed sex hoggets 32/6; forward threequarterbred wether hoggets 36/4; shorn four and six-tooth half bred wethers 36/ to 37/6. Fat sheop.—A slightly larger yarding and a very firm sale. 0"n an average values were up on last week by 2/ a head. Extra prime wethersbrought to 66/. prime 52/6 to 57/6, medium 48/6 to 51/6, light 41/ to 46/6; extra prime ewes 57/10, prime 46/6 to 51/, medium 42/6 to 46/6, light 37/6 to 41/6, aged 32/6 to 38/6. Fat cattle. —This section had the smallest entry of the season, comprising 320 head, of which a small consignment came from the North Island, and others from the coast. It was a "hot" sale, values being up by 5/ per lOOlbs and in some cases up to 52/6 per lOOlbs was realised. Prime medium weights made 44/ to 48/ per lOOlbs; prime heavy-weights 42/ to < 46/; ordinary medium weights 41/ to 43/; light 36/ to 40/ and rough down to 25/.. Extra prime lieavy weight bullocks sold for £lB 10/ to £2O 15/.* prime steers £l7 10/ to £l9 5/; medium £ls to £l7 5/; light £l2 5/ to £l4 15/; rough £8 10/ to £l2; extra prime heifers £l4 5/ to £ls 10/; a .few specials £l6 to £lß' 15/; prime £l2 to £l3; ordinary £8 10/ to £ll 10/; extra prime cows £l4 to £l6 17/6; prime £ll 3/ to £l3 15/ medium ' £9 to £ll. aged £5 to £B. ; Vealers.—-A small entry and a good demand,, with prices in advance of; those ruling last week. Runners fetched £7 10/; good vealers £4 10/ to £6; good calves £1 10/ to £4 5/; small calves 12/6 to 35/. Store cattle. —A small entry, mostly of cows and heifers and an average demand. Best cows and heifers realised £2 to £4; medium £1 5/ to £1 15/; inferior 15/ to 20/. Dairy cattle. —A slack demand in the opening stages, with an improvement after. Best heifers sold for £8 tb £lO 10/; third and fourth calvers £8 to £9 10/; medium heifers £5 to £7 10/.
