SHANNON CLUB MEETS. t The -annual meeting of the Shannon Cricket Club, held in the Council Chambers qn Friday evening, was very poorly attended. Mr G. yuarrie ■ presided. A notification was received from the secretary of the Horownenuu Cricket .Association notifying | that their annual meeting will be held jin Levin on Wednesday evening, j October if at which it was: hoped the ' Slum non Club .would be represented, j also that the Club would be able to enter a team fqr the Shield Competition. Discussion followed in respect to the latter question, members expressing the opinion that sufficient support would be forthcoming to enable a team to be entered, and as -a result it was decided to reorganise the Club, which had been disbanded at the latter, part of last season. Some of those present undertook to interview likely players. The chairman pointed out that Wing to the pitch on the Recreation Grounds having been taken up it would be necessary to .find another ground to play on. Messrs Quarrie and Johnston were appointed to approach property owners with a . view, t.o securing a suitable ground for . the season. The election oi officers was held over until a.later meeting to be held on Monday, .October 6th. ; Messrs Bishop and Johnston were apj pointed delegates to the Union pro tern. ..
