NEW TOTALISATOR HOUSE. OVER £IOOO REIN (I SPENT. Excellent progress ife being niade with the improvements tq the Levin Racing Club’s property lately undertaken by the Club in preparation for the meeting on November 22nd. These when finished, will make the appointments thoroughly up-to-date, whilst, moreover, the work is being done on such a permanent basis, as to obviate file necessity lor attention lor many years to come. The principal work undertaken is the erection iof a new totaiisator house, now. neai'ing completion. Tms building, which will be concrete floored and built on concrete foundations is 70 x 18ft, and is of on e storey with tile exception of t,he central portion in which the machine is housed, and which rises to.) a second, storey effectively breaking tlie outline of the facade. Seven double selling windows have been provided on the lawn, giving accommodation to 14 clerks, and four double’ windows ou.tside, whilst there will be seven pay-out windows on the lawn and five outside. A commission window has also been provided on the lawn. The entrance races will be divided by concrete posts with iron pipe' rails, an example of the permanent nature of a,U fittings being erected. The machine has been thorouglily overhauled, and the .capacity of the building is estimated at w,ell over £30,000 per day. - A complete new rail has been erected round the course, concrete posts and a jarrah rail being used. Considerable improvements are being eilected to the stand, the glass in. the sides being renewed where necessary, and the seating accommodation lin- / proved. The space beneath the stand , previously taken up by the booth, has been transformed into' a' stewards luncheon-room, and 0) booth 40 x I2ix., . will be erected as a separate building behind the stewards’ stand. The lawn will also be extended over half a chain towards the entrance gates. The cost of the whole work undertaken will exc.eed £IOOO, litre expense being incurred in anticipation of the Club's -obtaining a second day’s racing in the near future. The improvements will undoubtedly add coiisider- , ably to the satisfaction of the sport- . ing public, and the stewards oi the Club are to be' congratulated on the initiative thev b aye displayed. ~
