PRIEST FINED FOR REBUKE.
SPANISH CLERGYMAN MD BARK-ARMED FLAPPED. / MADRID, August 2. A parish priest at Gerona, near here, was,fined 500 pesetas by the Governor of the province when he gave a girl a severe rebuke for her so-called immodest dress. The priest saw the girl on the street with a short skirt, short sleeves and low neck, and. stopped her and reproved her strongly. The girl's father was a local police magistrate, who appealed promptly to the Governor of the province. The priest was fined, but the bishops of the district to-day appealed to a higher authority^ A vigorous campaign is now going on to remove immodesties from women's dress and establish i fashion of high necks and long sleeves, at least for church wear.
