RUGBY UNION MEETS.
The weekly meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby union was held on Tuesday, Mr Hutchings presiding Also present: Messrs Austin, O'Connor, Robinson, 'DimocK* O'ftou'rke, Kimmer, Nash and the secretary, Mi* L. Carmichael. ■ •* CORRESPONDENCE.
•The Waikato Union wrote that, for financial reasons, , they would not be ajble to arrange a game with Horowhenua .this season.—Received. ™ The N.Z. Rugby Union "forwarded H. Jacob's New Zealand Representative cap. N FOXTON AND THE UNION.
The ichairaaan made an explanation in regard to the telegram received by the Union to the effect' that'the FoxtdfV Club intended to withdraw from the Nash Cup Competition. He stated that secretary of the Club sent- the wire at the instigation . of a section of the Club, but without the authority of the Club as a body. The Wire was absolutely unofficial. The secretary aslied if it was then a fact thait the Foxton Club had not withdrawn frqin the Competition. The Union had received a. telegram which was not contradicted, and the Club concurred in the purpart of the telegram by acting as if it were genuine. The matter, wajs discussed at length, it being finally decided that the members of the Union journey' to Foxton on Friday evening next," to confer with the Foxton Club. A motion was also carried that the secretary of >the Club be asked to furnish an explanation of the matter to the Union. LICENSED VICTUALLERS' CUP. . It was decided that the rules of the Licensed Victuallers' Cup Competition, which 'provided for all matches being played in Otajki, be amended. The competition was altered to a knocH-out one for the junior grade, under the same rules as the Nash Cup, and the rule which provided that all games be played in Otaki and which was found to be unsatisfactory, was deleted, .With the provision that the Anal be played at that place. "~ JUNIOR JERSEVS. The manager of the North y. South Junior Match which was played at Paraparaumu last Saturday, reported considerable trouble in obtaining iJhe necessary jerseys.—The matter was held over to. enable enquiries to be made by Mr Dimock.
