[ QUARTERLY, MEETING. Tii6 quarterly management committee meeting 01 tne Hqrowhenua Patriotic AssociaUpn was held in the Borough chambers yesterday,' Mr P. W. Goldsmith presiding. There were ajso present Messrs C. 'S. keedwell, tt. G. Maclean, W. Kilsfey, J. Smith, J. McLeavey t J. P. Brandon, G. P. Catley and Mrs T. F. Gibson. Apologies iQr unavoidable absence were received from Messrs Broadbelt, Reeves, <ind H, Andrew. Before proceeding to business, on the rnqtioa Qf the chairman, a. vote .)f condblenoe with the relative of Mr" L, St. George was passed aM a motion placed on record of appreciation of the .work done by the deceased gentleman jn the interests of the Association.
CORRESPONDENCE. The Auditor-General wrote approving qf the appointment of Messrs Areus and Pattrick as auditors to the Association. , * The Under-Secretary Qf Internal Affairs acknowledged the quarterly statement of the Patriotic funds to the 30th June.
Notifications of unsatisfactory cases were received from the Auckland and Wairarapa Associations. , The National War Funds Gourieil forwarded their prpgress report. A returned soldier applied for a loan Qf £6OO, but nqt being a liability of this district, could not be dealt with.
Time was granted to a returned soldier who was behind with payment of interest. The jactibn of the executive was approved in granting 30s per week io the dependent of a returned man who was out of work.
A farmer soldier applied for a grant Qf 3% per week to provide labour, lie having had to return to hospital owing to ,war disability,—Granted.
In tihe case of a member of the Native Battalion who applied -for relief the Association took up the case with the National War Funds Council and were -instrumental in securing 'a grant of £25 to be paid in weekly instalments of £% 10s.
Application was received for a sum of £so' for the purpose of purchasing furniture.—Granted. A man who. was assisted with a grant of £3 10s to come to Shannon to. obtain work, .refunded the amount to the Association.
The following sums were received: as refund of loans and interest: £4 6s Bd, £2 7s 6d. £1 13s, £2 3s Bd, £27 ss, 15s 7d, £18" 18s 2d, £4 6s Bd, and £l6 10s.
The meeting approved of the action of tihe Executive in agreeing to purchase a building section, value £SO, for a disabled soldier, to' enable him to receive a building grant from the Government, on preferential terms.
