SOCIETY REVELS.
PRINCE IN TREASURE HUNT. COMMENT EXPECTED. LONDON, July 26. The Prince of Wales joined in a motor-car "treasure hunt" in the early'hours of to-day, this being one of the revels of the "Society of Bright Young People," whose ranks have been-swelled by the smartest "society."
The participants subscribe a sovereign to a pool, and then, begins the gam e of chasing clues in all parts of the town until the winner finds the treasure. The Prince's party began at Claridge's Hotel, where 50 mptior-cars assembled. The street echoed to the barking of exhausts as, at the word "Go!" beautiful society girls and famous airmen and officers of the Guards jumped to the steering ■ wheels and followed in the chariot iace, waving their hands to indulgent, policemen; The clues had been laid in tlhe darkest arches of the Adelphi, thence to th e Bank of England, and then at a newspaper office in Fleet Street. The next was five miles directly to the
west through the empty main streets of Kensington. The course finished at Norfolk House, St. James', where a sumptuous champagne breakfast was spread. When the leading high-power cars arrived at tha chalk line, in a dingy alleyway, the treasure hunters were ordered to crawl on all fours. Lovely coiffures and beautiful dresses soon became disordered, but shingled heads scored heavily. The .clues included verses in which were hidden directions. The Prince's participation Is expected to cause widespread comment.
