Father McDermott, who made tno presentation, saiu as they were all aware, and he was sure all regretted it vary much, they w.ere going to losajone of the parishioners in the person ,01 Mrs Murpiiy. "Mrs Murphy has been amongst you tor the last lour years," continued the speaker, "and during that time she has always been a constant and earnest worker in all Catholic functions. It has been said oi her; that she was always an energetic and an unselfish worker and 1 ■Leel sure that yqu Catholic people ol Sh;a.no<r will suffer a great loss by her departure from amongst you, for anything that Mi's Murphy put 'her hand to was sure to be a success which was mainly due to her piea;-ng and genial disposition. In all undertakings always a willing helper in Mr Murphy, a fact that c.vujot be overlooked or in puss unappreciated by tihe people of Shannon. It is a pleasure for me to be here to present Mrs Murphy, on behalf of the Catholics of Shannon, with this handsome cheque and in doing so, I wish Mr and Mrs Murphy every happiness and prosperity in their new home, and I feel'sure tfhat Mrs Murphy will often look back with pleasure on the happy days she spent in Shan-' ndn during her four years' stay amongst you." Mr Fitzgerald said he had been asked by Mrs 'Murphy to thank the congregation on her behalf, but before doing so he wished to endorse all tlie Rev. Father .had said. He would like to add that as chairman of the committee it always gave him great pleasure to have Mrs Murphy's name on any committee knowing that she would always do her share to make whatever entertainment they had a success. On behalf of the congregation ihe asked Mrs Murphy to convey to her husband their sincere thanks for his able assistance at the various entertainments.held by them. On Mrs Murphy's behalf Mr Fitzgerald thanked the- congregation very sincerely for. tine handsome present they had given her. 'She and Mr Murphy had spent some happy years .here and although they would be nearer to their old homes, they regretted leaving many kind friends in Shannon
