In speaking to <the report, the Treasurer stated that the position in ro- 1 gard to "the finances was not satisfactory. He considered that a statement of the financial position and a trial balance sheet should be submitted to the Union every month. As things were he was iinahle to say what 'was exactly the financial portion at any moment and as executive officers they should know exactly to a penny the financial'position of the Union and where every penny was, spent and how it was spent. He did-/ 'not suggest that there was anything wrong with the book-keeping save that it was not sufficiently elaborate. He would . suggest that air accounts should be sent in and dealt with at once at the beginning-of the month. As soon after live fifteenth of each month as possible then, a trial balance should be. brought out. lie had formulated a system whereby the finances could be properly recorded'; and he suggested that a committee he be set up to go into the matter. , The chairman congratulated 'the' treasurer on his able presentation of the position. '
Mr Hardie protested against the aineiidment on the score that it Was desira.ble to encourage junior playersto attend senior games. The secretary said that the ibig difficulty was that if this game was not played, it would upset the whole of the fixtures which had been arranged, Regarding the" question of hiking the game as a curtain-raiser to the senior game in Foxton, it was a question if it was worth while incurring the expense of hanging men from all over the Union to Foxton. fcy
cur and sending them hack by oar after tlfe game. Mr ,T. J. O'Connor said -thai he was of the opinion." that the'public should ho-' considered. He did not think thai, a junior game, even if played in Levin, would affect the senior rep. game in Foxton and by playing it the Union would be iablo to keep faith Avith the public who after all were" the people who kept football going.
