' Ilui Mai mat anti defeated Weraroa on the Levin Domain by 6 points to nil after a disappointing game. Tfie play was pf an even nature tJirongh the first spell being mostly confined to the 'forwards., neither team, playing with confidence and both sides equally failing to take advantage oi their opponent's weakness. In tlie first spell Hui Mai scored 3 points by a penalty goal kicked by Gardner, several other kicks at goal failing. Several shots at goal by Weraroa from penalties also missed. The second spell _was not long in progress when Johnstone scored a tty for Hui Mai from a passing rush in which he handled the ball twice; the kickYwent wide. Hui Mai had the best of’the second spell-until -towards the end When the Weraroa forwards got going, but were unable ito penetrate the Ilui Mai defence. Mr E. Bevan controlled the game in first class style. SHANNON! 25 v. AWAHOU 3. This game was expected to he an even contest after the close finish between the two teams on previous meeting; but' the spectators were disappointed as 'practically throughout Shannon had toe visitors on the defensive and v in the second hall, playing down the field, were successful in piling up 22 points; only one try being scored by them in the first spell.
