THE MORATORIUM.
D.F.U. FAVOURS EXTENSION. 'The proposed cessation of the moratorium on December 31 of this year, I was referred to. at the Wellington provincial district conference of the j Daiiy 'Farmers' Union last week j when the following remit was submitted on behalf of the Feilding and Bunnythorpe branches: —"That a gradual extinction of the moratorium be provided for." In moving the remit, Mr J. Fox, Feilding, said that thisi was an opportunity for the dairy farmers to show their capacity to battle. He firmly believed that in three, four or five years things would automatically right themselves but in the meantime, some lolief would be reqiured by a great many farmers.. Mr Linklater, M.P., referred to this : matter when he opened the conference earlier in the day, declaring thai he was fully in support of an extension of the moratorium. It was decided to incorporate. , the following two remits with the one already moved: From Wangaehu, Levin, Aokautere, Pohangina Valley, Putorind, Norsewood, Glen Oroua and Ruawhata branches; "That the moratorium extended over five years, thus providing for a gradual extinction, and provide safeguard to avoid unnecessary hardships." From the following branches, Oroua
Downs and Longburn: "That 'some method of extinction should be provided for in order to avoid undue hardships to dairy farmers." As amended the remtfs were then c*rri»4i ' . .*.. ....*..-., ........
