COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS CONCERT PARTY.

VISIT TO MANGAHAQ. Whenever the commercial Travellers entertain, a genial • company; and n. first class siiuw is assured. There was no exception to the rule when some twenty artists, from Painierston j\orth visited Mangahao Camps last Saturday, June 7. Opening as is their custom, with this National Anthem, at 8 p.m. sharp, their programme lasted till nearly midnight and yet the audience called lor more. A strong orchestra supported the soloists, as well as rendered orchestral selections with first class talent. '

Among the vocal soloists were Messrs Ticiiener, pizzey, Bnindioru, Slovens on and Orchard. In elocutioniny vein Messrs Oliver and McKegK contributed. The so'io ins tr-mmeu talis is Messrs C. Bell (xylophones), C Edwards (cornet), J. Davis (violin), H. S. Lee (flute) and Elliott (trombone;. Mr ■Tichener, in his inimitable- comic repertoire, held the audience in shrieks of laughter, while Mr B. Pizm topical songs and comedy, will also he remembered "for loiig. Every item was recalled more than once and the twenty item pro-gramulc. eventually became one of fllty-two. Hail the artists been able to carry on still, da-wn would have found the audience there.

■On the motion of the secretary of the Workers' Union [Mr 1 {viands) very h(?aily cheers were given for the party, to which Messrs Lee and Pizzey replied. The performance concluded with the Marseillaise and the National Anthem and a dance followed—for the first .part of which, the club orchestra kindly 'played. The party was subsequently entertained to supper. No charge-was made for the concert, but at the conclusion, on Mr Lee's suggestion, a "tarpaulin muster" in aid of ihe All Saints' Children's Home: was taken and the satisfactory result amply proved the audience's appreciation of the party's visit. *The visitors left at about ? a.m., leaving a very contended camp.
