OLIVER TWIST'S BOWL.
A bowl, said to havo been used'by Charles Dickens, and to be the very one referred Ho in the famous porridge incident in "Oliver Twist,* 1 is shortly to be placed an exhibition at the Southwark Central Library, Walworth Road. It is at present in: the Chapter House of Southwark Cathedral. The original "copper" in which it is stated the porridge was cooked;\ has been a treasured exhibit at the library for some years. "The bowls." wrote Dickens, in '•Oliver Twist," "never wanted washing. The boys polished them with their spoons till they, shone .'again. Desperate with hunger, Oliver rose, and, advancing, basin, and spoon in - hand, to the workhouse master, said: 'Please, sir, I want some more.' " l
