Mr Hutchinson . personally aided Millarde in the production and election of locations. Eight English town« were used to visualise* "Tidb.orough." The'entire Royal W'esf Kent regiment,- known as the "Buffs," were used in the military scenes. Among the ihistoric places used for atmosphere were Chilham Castle, dating back to Caesar,' 56 8.C., Canterbury Cathedral and The Precincts, Leeds Castle, the ."old court* of the Plantagenets," Aylesbury courthouse, and ■, many other sections of historic old st. Albans.
