DANGER OF LIVE WIRES.
i SCHOOLS TO BE CIRCULARISED
At the Horowhenua. Power Board's meeting on Tuesday title question of the danger of live wires was discussed, Mr Gunning suggesting that a pamphlet should be issued to all school leathers pointing out the danget of touching or interfering with electric appliances or wires. The teachers might also be asked to point out the danger to the children.
The Board's Engineer (Mr Overton) pointed out that a very fine article had recently appeared in the School Journal, dealing with this danger. The article had originated in the Waikato where some children had been discovered climbing mp the high tension poles. The chairman said that! a remit! might possibly be .brought in to the Power Boards' conference in respect of tliis matter. The time was shortly coming when the whole country would be covered with poles and live wires and warning should (be given. The best thing perhaps would he to circularise the teachers pointing out the particular points on which children should be lectured.
| Mr Ross pointed out that iby the distribution of a circular to the .children, the matter of the danger would also be brought before, the parents and other grown-ups.
On the motion of Mr A. Brown, seconded by Mr A. A. Ross,-it was decided that circulars should be sent do the various schools pointing out tlie danger and that teachers be asked to lecture the children on the subject pointng out the danger and also the penalties for interfering with Power Board property.
