He stated that u patient entered the hospital recently, and deposited the sum ot £1 as trust uiu-uey with the scorelaiy. When he was-discharged bum • the hospital, he tenderedMms receipt by mail,-requesting the return of tlie I money. The secretary refused to dd tin's, and the Hoard was now'in pussession of the money. Tlie secretary explained that the patient concerned owed £ll to the Board for lees, in view of this tfie discharged patient was asked for a statement of ills finances when iio applied for the refund of his money. Tiiis the patient refused point-blank loi du. The money was subsequently rotaitii'd until a statement was luniUhed. The Executive Committee had endorsed this unction on the part of the secretary. Discussion was controversial, at the conclusion of Which Mr Broudbelt gave notice' of motion that the money tie returned and that tlie Board take the necessary steps to secure payment ol the aecount.
On the-'motion of Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., it wa.s decided to obtain the advice of the Board’s solicitor as to the power of the Board* in such a matter.. ,
