GI3NEKIAL. Cr. "Board moved that, in regard' to the Soldiers' Memorial, which he s.a,id was a credit to the town, a small marble sJaib bo attached bearing the date it was unveiled and-who by, thus completing the job.—-Tliis was agreed to. SUBSIDY FOR DOMAIN. Cr. Bea.rd said he was; not aible to be present when the estimates wore brought, down and he believed there was nothing on the estimates for the Domain. If such was the case he did not think it light, as the money raised by the public was for permanent improvements. Money would still be required for incidental expenses. Cr. Murray said the Council had not turned it down hut were of opinion there was no need to subsidise if the money was not going to be. required. ■■*'.■ Cr. Beard was assured by the council that if money was required for repairs they would come to their assistance. '

Beard or any other councillor was not satisfied they (give notice of motion to- have" certain amounts cut down from the estimates %n,d ah amount for the' reserve substituted. TOWN IMPROVEMENTS. Cr. Hyde informed the Council that a start was to be made in a day or two to plough the strip of land in Plimmer Terrace from Vance street to Ballance street and opposite the railway, station. He said-ho-had received offers from several people to raise funds for planting shrubs and putting it in order.—The Council were unanimous that Cr. Hyde be authorised to collect any monev for the purpose. Accounts • totalling £235 6s 8d were passed for payment.
