West End crowds to-day were astonished by a thrilling pursuit ol motor bandits. .Two men dismounted from a motor car in New Bond Street at ten o’clock in the morning, smashed the window of Harhan’s, Jeweller's shop .with a hanmiei, snatched a diamond necklace valued at £BOOO, re-entered the‘car and drove towards Piccadilly. A policeman was a witness of the audacious theft and jumping into a taxi he pursued the thieves. Other police and pedestrians joined in the chase. , . The robbers abandoned their car during a traffic block in Gower street and escaped to a tube station.
