TOKOMARU NEWS.
(From our own Correspondent.) On Tuesday evening a send-off was accorded Miss Higgs, who has resigned from the school staff to take up duties in the Gisborne district. During the evening she was presented with a brush, comb, and hand mirror. Mr Guy, the chairman of the school committee, eulogised the good work done by Miss Higgs, who in n happy little speech thanked the givers far the .gilt and said the [work that had been done among the children site lu<(l enjoyed doing. Various items, interspersed with dancing, were rendered. One that was greatly appreciated was a recitation by Miss Elsie Lee, and a song by Miss Mol lie Bree A pleasant evening was brought to a close by the singing of “Auld Land Syne.” ' On Friday evening a dance, inaugurated by Miss Wilton was held, and wms well patronised. Several of the school children, in alia roe oif Ifwo teachers,, journeyed !do\vn to Wellington, and had a good ! opportunity of visiting the Hood on Friday. The child on itook -a keen interest in everything appertaining thereto.
