Enamelling Bathroom Taps.—Much labour can be saved in these servantless days if the brass bathroom taps are painted white. This can be done quite easily at a small cost. First clean the taps with metal polish, then Avash them with strong hot soda water. Dry thoroughly, and apply a coat of white enamel. This should be done at that the taps will not hav e ta be used until the morning, when the enamel should be dry.

A Deodoriser. —Cloves burnt on the top of the kitchen stove will: remove smell of onions or the very unpleasant smell of cooking cabbage. Stains in Teacups.—To remove stains from teacups, rub with salt and vinegar.

Mending Silk Stockings.—A correspondent says:—“l always ravel out an old silk stocking and wind the silk on a card for mending silk stockings; nothing is better.” Cutting Bacon Rind. —Try cutting the rind off bacon with a pair of scissors instead of a knife. This is easier and quicker, and there is less waste.

Shabby Leather Bag, —When the outside of a leather bag has become shaby, it can be improved by being rubbed all over with the well-beaten white of an egg, and polished with a soft duster.
