TOO MUCH EXECUTIVE!
IN HOSPITAL BOARDS
Undoubtedly where a public body consists of a large number of members the appointment of an executive to give the business the “once over” before the .Board meeting saves a great deal Qf trouble. But where the executive consists of a majority of the members, it is difficult to suy what is the value of the body of the remaining members. At any rate that is the view held by Mr W. Murdoch, Shannon’s chief magistrate, as may be gauged from a breezy interlude at last meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board. The subject was the trouble over .visitors at the hospital and it was suggested that the ticketsystem be considered by the executive, with a view to its- revision. Mr Murdoch: There is too much “executive” here. Bring a few more things before the Board, and let a few more of us have a say. The chtairmjan: Do you wish to move anything? . iMr Miurdach : I will next time the matter crops up. The chairman: Do you enter a protest then? , ~ „ T Mr Murdoch: Most decidedly I do. (Laughter).
