ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting oi the Shannon GOll ClUh was held in the Council Chambers lust evening . wuien tiieie was a large attendance 01 mourners. The Rev. Mr Abbott presided. CORRESPOJnDEN CE.

The letter was received and Qir the motion of Mr C. P. Anderson a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Hayes ior bis oiler. ■ 'PRESIDENT’S REPORT.

The president (Rev. Mr Abohtt) then read the fourth annual report, which dealt in an interesting manner with the events of the year, (it will appear in our next issue). The balance sheet which was read and adopted, showed the receipts to be £57 3s 3d; expenditure £sl I3s 7d; leaving a credit balance as per bank book of £5 10s. - ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

Tile following officers were elected lor the ensuing year President, Mr Dinnie; vice-presidents, Messrs Seifert, Goodwill, G. Mitchell and Barber; captain, Mr Seifert; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr A. H. Morgan; auuitor, Mr J. T. Bo vis; general committee : Men—Messrs Saxon, G. P. Anderson,. Murphy, Gagiiardi, the president, club captain and secretary; ladies—Mesdames Waring-Taylor, Dinnie, Morgan, Saxon, Hosking, and Miss Cole; ground committee, tlie president? secretary, captain and Messrs Murphy arid Anderson; liandicapper, Mr Murphy. Mr Murphy proposed and .Mr Seifert seconded thajt a letter be lorwarded to Mr G- Mitchell thanking him for the use of his grounds arm making (him an honorary member—Carried.

On a notice of motion by Mr If. Seifert it was decided to increase the subscription to the Club as follows Men from 15s to £i Is, and ladies, from 7/6 ta 10/6. It was resolved that the official opening day for the coming season be Saturday, April 26th,' subject to the grounds being in order on-that date. -It was ■ resolved that tire Club become affiliated to the New Zealand Golf Association. The secretary was instructed to write to members in arrears with their subscriptions, informing them that it not paid before the opening of the season their names would be struck off the membership roll. Mr Anderson, in moving a vote of thanks to the retiring president (Rev. Mr Abbott) said he had been of great benefit to the club last season in. many respects and he was sure they all regretted his leaving the district. He would be •missed not only by the Golf Club but the whole community . and ha (had much pleasure in wishing! linn every happiness iii his haw sphere. On the motion of Mr Morgan, the retiring president was made an honorary member. Mr Abbott, thanked the members for their kind words of appreciation and he-said he had felt honoured at being a member of the Club. Fie felt sure all had had a pleasant time last season, and again thanking them, he wished the Club every success for the coming season. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. •
