LATEST DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES- $ BUTTER LOWER—CHEESE HIGHER. Messrs Dalgety and Co-., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London House under date of the 25th instant: — “Butter.—Since our last report, dated 20th March, prices are 6s per cwt. lower. Prices are now as follows: N.Z. Salted 16.45, N.Z. exceptional brands 1665, Danish 198 s, finest Australian salted and unsalted 1545. “Cheese.—There is a better market. Since our report of 20th March prices are 4s per cwt. higher.” Quotation for New Zealand cheese is now 86s per cwt.
Tt is stated Hint in the absence of horse-racing and the -totalisator in Taihape, wagers are made upon any possible happening.>The Latest is that, employees make their bets as to whether tille telephone will be engaged when the ring is first given.
