The Postmaster-General (the Hon. J. Wellington-Levin: The efficiency of this line has been improved by the use of a larger gauge wire, Otaki-Levin: The providing of lines between Otaki and Levin, in addition to the present outlet via Manakau, enables Waikanae, Paekakarikl, Parapai’aumu and Otaki „to obtain communication with, stations north of Levin, through Levin. Hitherto it has been necessary for all such communications to be made via Wellington. The accommodation.. , between Otaki and Waikanae has also been increased, ‘ Between Levin and Palmerston North, the providing of two direct' lines in addition to the existing one, on which Shannon is an intermediate station, has consideably increased the accommodation between these places and will facilitate the despatch of traffic between Manakau, Poxton, Tokomaru, Shannon and Levin, These rearrangements, in addition to providing quicker telephone toll service between the main exchanges, will also enable a greater volume of traffic to be dealt with by intermediate stations.
