£2OOO FOR STOLEN KISS.
CAUSES DOCTOR'S BANKRUPTCY.
Dr. Justin L. Mitchell, former staff physician of the German Deaconess Hospital, Chicago, when he kissed the unwilling lips of Miss Mathild Bankhardt, a pretty nurse, took the first step towards bankruptcy. The hospital authorities for a time upheld the physician in his claim that the charges were absurd, but Missfc Bankhardt fought him through various courts, finally securing judgment for £2OOO.
The jury awarded her this sum last February but she was unable to collect it, and a few weeks ago caused the arrest of the offending doctor. Dr. Mitchell, as a final resort, has now filed an insolvent debtor's petition, and if the court allows this peti-* tion, Miss Bankhardt will have difficulty in succeeding.
