MAKINO CREAM FRAUDS.

SIMPSON’S STATEMENT. The statement made * by Henry Simpson, ,a lorry driver, lately in the empioy 01 the Cheltenham Dairy Co., rega.ruing the recent cream cases, isas follows: . 1 “I am a cream collector in the employ of the Cheltenham Dairy Go., and reside at Makino. I know 3. J. S. Thomasen. He is a supplier of cream to the company. About the end of October last, he met me at the gate and spoke to me about his test being low. I told him that 1 would push his test up a hit for him. I straight away took a sample off the top of his can without stirring it and told him that was how it was done. Following his first test, Thomasen again met me at his cream stand somewhere aboiujt ten days later and told me he was pleased with his test, so he had a full knowledge of how it was obtained. I havje been doing the same thing right up till the present time! I was perfectly well aware that what I was doing was not proper and that the sample put in by rne at the factory each day was not a true sample, as the quality was superior to that of the cream as a whole. Thomasen and I are on gpod terms and we sometimes have a drink together. The foregoing is a true statement of what | has taken place in regard to this mat- | ter.” i Tiiis s*ta|tem:ent is practically Ihe * same in all five charges.
