The following appeared in v the Melbourne Argus early in the year 1864, having been received by tire telegram from Adelaide: “Mr Tompkinson, manager of the Bank of Australasia, advertises in the Register that no person need apply to him for charitable donations, as he intends to devote .his earnings for the next six months to the claims of his own family and the" payment of tradesmen’s accounts.”
