LEVIN MARKET.

ADVANCE IN PIGS. There was a large yarding of all classes of stock at the Levin weekly \ sale yesterday, sheep being! particularly well represented and some good lines being offered. There was a keen enquiry for fats, but ewes were not given tie attention which might have heen expected, owing to an absence of buyers. An extra good line of 2-tooths brought the satisfactory price of 32s 6d. Practically a total clearance was effected in the large yarding of cattle, beef showing a slight advance. The general quality of the cattle offered was not high and prices Tuled accordingly. Pigs, contrary to the general expectation, showed an advance in all classes. Pork sold at a price equivalent to 6|d per lb, under keen competition, whilst ©finer lines were also in demand, probably as the result of the recent improvement in the milk yield. Prices were asunder:— Pigs.—Weaners 9s 6d to 14s 6d; light stores 19s 6d to 21s 6d, heavier 24s to 3s 6d, porkers £2 ss. to £3 2s, choppers £2 to £3 16s, baconers £3 15s to £4 Is, breeding sows £3 2s 6d to £4 4s. Sheep.—Prime • wethers 395, fat lambs £1 to 255, forward ewes 19s 9d, forward lambs 19s Id, forward 4-tooth wethers 27s Id, good 2-tooth Wethers 26s lid, cull 4-tooth wethers 19s, 6tooth and f.f.m. ewes, good line 255, cull ewes 14s 6d to 15s lOd, shorn lambs 15s ?d, cull lambs 5s 6d to 10s lOd, Southdown rams 2 guineas. Cattle.—Fat cows £4 to £4 10s, forward cows £3 to £3 ss, vealers to £2 10s, cows and calves 30s to £3, good Jersey weaner heifers £2 6s, others £1 to 30s, heifers r.w.b. £2 Is, springing heifers £3 ss, store cows 22s to 30s, 4-year steers, rough, £3 12s 6d; 18-month steers £2 14s, bulls £2 5s to £2 7s 6d, potter bulls £1 to 355.
