Hughes at the other end opened with 2, and Pringle went down in the next over to Sutherland. Gander followed and ran a leg-glide for a useful 3. Madsen relieved Sutherland and
Conder scored freely; (bringing the total to 40 with the first boundary of the day. A single through slips by Conder brought the score to 50, Hughes being nearly thrown out on the next ball.
Morgan took the 'baM from Madsen;, one run being scored off the over. Conder was now well settle dand battiny beajuitifiully, placing This balls with cleanness and precision. A miss-tilt off NJswthi just missed his wicket and 3 off the next shot brought the score up to 61. Hughes took the score to 70 off Morgan, being well caught next ball off Morgan, making 1 for 72, Hughes' score being 23. O'Connor followed and was just missed in boundary off Madsen. A nice double by Conder brought the score to 80, his total toeing 50. O'Connor was again missed for an easy catch and followed with a boundary, being caught by Madsen for 14, making "91 for 3 wickets. Marshall opened with 2 off Morgan bringing the 100, and shortly after Conder went out to an Lb.w., off Mason, having scored 6|2 out of a total of 116 in a, fine innings. Davis, who took his place, was missed for a duck off Mason, the innings being declared closed for 134 and Mason and Madsen opened for 1 Moutoa, Mason starting with a double off Pringle and scoring 10 in the over. Madsen, who was playing, a useful game, hit a boundary off O'Connor, being stumped next shot for a score of 12. One for 39. Morgan brought the total to 40, the total being 59 when Mason was clean bowled by Pringle, bis score being 38. Davey followed and took the figures along to 70, when Morgan went out to Pringle for 81. His place was taken by Newth, who was dismissed for 1, being caught by Conder off j O'Gonnor. , ' x ., ■ i C Morgan went at 4 to a beautiful throw-in by Sloan, the figures stand-, ing 5 for 75, Newth following at 78 having added 6 to the total. With four men still to bat, there was only four minutes to go, and it looked as if a draw was inevitable, but a splendid bit of bowing toy O'Connor resulted in all being dismissed, leaving two minutes in hand.
