MANGAHAO SCHEME.
JUNE—DATE OF COMPLETION.
MINISTER] CONFIDENT.
Despite the fact that heavy floods occurred at Mahgahao, the Minister for Public Works (the Hon. J. G. Coates) is 'confident that the Mangahao hydro-electric scheme will be completed ■ very close to the end of June. ' The Minister stated on Tuesday that excellent work, had been accomplished during the recent prolonged drv spell, which had materially assisted in putting toe project wfell forward. The fullest advantage had been taken of the dry weather to make rapid progress, and he Was pleased at what (had been accomplished.
Asked wljetoer the recent floods would cause 1 much delay in the completion of the scheme, - the Minister said that at the moment it was very hard to say, but, personally, he did not think that things would be at all far behind at toe end of June. Everything depended on Whether material was on hand to be available readily to meet the situation caused by the floods, - but if there was any delay he did not think it would be very great because such good work had been done during toe Tecent'dry weather.
