A LEAP YEAR PROPOSAL.
A well-known bachelor resident oi Shannon a few lays ago received the following ’‘leap year call’’ : “Love Sick Terrace, Paradise, My Dear "Sir,— I am sending this your love to stir, t have chosen you first of all On whom to make a leap year call. And with you I would exchange Your heart and hand. I ask you in jest, I ibopei you will give me one request. But if your heart is not inclined In wtedlock clasp yours and mine Then, of course, you must obey and down £5 you will have to pay. Besides, dear sir, I want a handsome dress; I want noi more, 1 1 ask no less. So don’t think this letter funny— I must have the man or else thej money. So please, your reply. Oh! Let me be your wife until I die; And if the writer’s name you guess, Send it back to my address. But if for me there is no hope, Send me back six yards of rope. Will heaps of love, lots of kisses, From one who wants to be your missus.”
