Details are now available of the Champion Buiter-fat Competition organised bv the Horowhenua A. and P. Association in connection with their forthcoming show. The conditions are varied this year m that, instead of the cows 'being collected at one place for the test, they have been 3d on the owners’ farms in the presence of officers of the Society. This- enabled the tests to.be carried out without disturbing the cows. The result is as follows: — Mr G. Stovers’ Lady 1 Mir P. A.' Anderson’s Pride 2 Mr H. J. Lancaster’s Glee ••••• .3 The conditions were as follows: \ The competition is open to cows any age or breed. First prize. Cup value £ls 15s (donated by 7 Levin Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd.), and £3 os; second prize £2 2a; third prize, £1 Is. Cup to be won twice m succession or three times at intervals, but not n ecessanly by the same cow. Winner, 1922, G. Sievers. > Winner, 1923, J. Horn. ‘ Cows to be milked in the presence of Association’s Steward on owner’s property, between September 12th and December 4th, 1923. Samples to be taken from four (4) consecutive milkings and points to be awarded as follows:—15 points for every lb. of butter-fat, 1 point for every lOlbs of milk. Owners of prize-winning animals are required to bring them to the Show otherwise the prize will be forleited.
