PAEKAKARIKI HILL ROAD.
DANGEROUS PORTIONS TO BE FENCED.
In a letter to the Wellington Automobile Club which came before, its meeting yesterday, the Public Works Department made an offer to expend £SO in fencing the dangerous portions of the road over the Paekakariki Hill, on condition that the club found a similar amount.
The chairman, Mr S. G. Nathan, expressed the* opinion that it would be money well spent, 'and he thought the club would be well advised to lonate £SO Of its funds towards this purpose. They should stipulate that a post and wire fence ibe erected,, as this had,- been proved to be the best thing for stopping cars. Mr A. N. Field said that there was not more than twenty chains altogether which required fencing. The secretary .was nstructed to write to the Public Works Department intimating the .club's willingness to pay half the cost Of the work up to £IOO.
