BPOitTS IN FEBRUARY
A general meeting Qf the above Club was held -on Saturday evening at the Council Chambers to make- airangenieiijfcs lor the holding ol a spoi ls meeting on -Saturday, Feb. 9th. There was a 'lai-r attendance of members, the president (Mr J. T. Bovis) presiding over the meeting. A notice ol motion, moved by the Siecneuiry, Mr u. Watkins, .to have ltulo 5 rescinded, was dealt with. The rule states that the annual meeting ol the Club be head during the last week ,in September. Tills was altered making the annual meeting; during tile first week in July, so as to bring the Cluib into line with other clubs. ' ;
TBS; prescient reported that tine evening sports meetings had been a great success as far as , the wjere coupended, but unfortunately the adult not come forward as well ias they wight have done. At present the cycle track wia-s in bad order, and would have to he attended to inunedialtely and he ielt sure that when improved .cyclists would turn up in strong force.
An offer was received from the Foxton Band to supply the music ior tlie foritb. -coming sports meeting. conditionally thajt Foxton received some of the orders far trophies.—Received.
A first-class programme for the coming meeting, drawn ,up by a subcouinhttee, wia<s suiba netted {for -the meeting's approval, -and with a few slight alterations was endorsed.
It was decided that entries close on Thursday, January 61st, at 8 p.m., with the secretary, Mr G. Watkins. Mr T. Stubbs, of Palmerston North, was appointed haudlcapper. Messrs Holden, Downes*, McLa&gan, Sands 'and the secretary were appointed ia oomimitteie to make a)rrangemeaifis for the wood-chopping contests. It was -also resolv'ed that tenders he called for supplying the blocks.
Mr Greedy was appointed to make for having the (cycle track put in order. It was -resolv'ed that -separate tenders be called for the 'catering (1) Luncheon and afternoon -tea, (2) soft drinks, fruit and isweets. Hot water will he (procurable on the ground free of charge. Tile meeting decided that open orders for trophies be given successful competitors With a -strong recommendation that they be presented in the town.
It was decided to hold the . next general meeting on February 3rd.
