IMPROVING PLIMMER TERRACE

At tlio Chamber* of Conurnerce meeting last night (Mr Thwaites asked if the Borough Council could'be induced to do something to improve the northern end of Pliminer- Terrace, that portion (between tjhe Bank of New Zealand and the Albion, Hoitel, and make'•• it more attractive.' The grass on the side of the road needed clearing and the drain was an eyesore. The President (Mr Gunning) Said the state of this portion of the street it/t tlhe "present time gave a very bad impression to visitors, being situated as it was in the business centre of" the town' land the Council should be prevailed upon to .have it attended to at once. In his. opinion it was an urgent matter and the Borough Council should have enough revenue to carry it out.. He would like t-o see the dip in the street filled ,up and levelled and the street straightened. ■Mr Beard -said if the Council could only get the estimates asked for.it would \be the solution of many matters and until they got them it was quite impossible for the Council to do anything. He agreed the work wanted (doing at once. ' i Mr Tippler then moved and Mr ■ Thwaites seconded that- a letter be forwarded to the Borough Council recommending that the piece of road be filled up, straightened and levelled. This was carried.
