ATHLETICS AT OTAKI.

Tho Otaki Athletic Club was favoured with ideal weather conditions for their annual sports' meeting, which was held on the domain on Saturday afternoon. Owing to the close proximity of the holidays the committee was sadly depleted, but those who were there worked with a will and the meeting, as a whole, must be voted a decided success. The public attended in goodly numbers and the ground was in fair condition, but a cycle track is badly needed. On the present track cyole-raeing is well nigh impossible and J the only bit of good work . in this j direction, the whole day, was the close { finish in the three mile race between I

Davies and Cooper, who raced together for the length of the straight, Davies crossing the line only a foot ahead of Cooper.
